Meet Jam Officer Alex G.!
How long have you been improvising?
Since grade ten, so about six years.
How long have you been involved with the UIG?
For three awesome years!
What or who got you interested in improv?
I used to be involved with theatre and that really got me into the improv scene. As soon as university started I immediately found the improv group.
What is something most people don’t know about UIG?
That you don't have to have any previous experience to join the club.
What is the best part about being a member of UIG?
Making friends not only within the group, but in other university improv groups across Western Canada.
Are there are scenes or lines that have stuck with you?
In our festival this past January, I was involved with a Musical Improv group. During our performance I had the opportunity to improvise a song and it went super well. My fellow improvisers acting and playing musical instruments supported me the entire time.
What advice would you give someone interested in trying improv?
Say "YES, AND DO IT!" I promise you that you won't regret it.
Why should someone come to a UIG show?
Why shouldn't someone come to a UIG show? It's top notch entertainment that's minimal cost.
The UIG is a diverse group: what is your field of study/work/interest outside of improv?
I'm currently a Classical Studies Major and Philosophy Minor. I am interested in Classical Archaeolgy and have a deep love for Nutella.
Anything else you want to add?
I've met some of my closest friends in UIG and am so grateful that I get to be apart of this student group. I love each and every one of these members.
Your last chance to watch Alex perform in the season is on Thursday, March 24 at 7:00 pm in Humanities Lecture Hall 1. See you there!
